    Keto Snacks

October 6, 2020 by Chelsea Blake 2 Comments

I'm all about snacks! Any time, any place. For those of us without a gallbladder, snacking is actually extremely important. So, I've compiled a list of my favorite Keto-friendly snacks and will continuously add to this page as I think of more. Enjoy!

    Mixed Nuts & Parm Crisps

    Keto snack: mixed Nuts

Sometimes it's best to keep it simple and easy. You can buy mixed nuts, or create your own mix and keep it in a sealed container. I buy nuts in bulk online, as well as flavored parmesan crisps (you could make these at home if you're feeling adventurous). Avoid cashews and pistachios, as they have too many carbs. Macadamia nuts have the highest fat content, but are pretty expensive. Pecans, almonds, peanuts, walnuts, brazil nuts and hazelnuts are all good options. Sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds can also join the party.

    Cucumber + Tzatziki

Keto snack: cucumber and tzatziki sauce

There are a lot of low-carb dips you can make/buy on Keto, however finding a dipper is more challenging. Cucumber is one of the best choices for low-carb dippers and is a natual partner for tzatziki sauce. Win! Technically you could make your own tzatziki sauce from scratch. Maybe one day I'll get around to that. Until then, I buy tzatziki sauce at the store (checking the label for hidden sugars first) and a cucumber and call it a day.

Carrots + Peanut Butter & MCT Oil

Keto snack: carrots and peanut butter mixed with MCT oil

I've been told that I should buy peanut butter with just one ingredient: peanuts. But man, it just doesn't taste the same! I know that the processed kinds have added sugars, but I just refuse to give them up. So in order to dilute the sugars with some healthy fats, I mix my favorite PB with MCT oil (avocado oil would also work) and turn it into a dip instead of a spread. Carrots and celery are the best dippers for this. I've also spread it on low-carb wraps/breads, drizzled it on Keto ice cream, and used it as a topping on Keto brownies!

    Lupini Beans

    Lupini Beans

Lupini beans are a common snack in the Mediterranean. If you've ever been to Italy, Spain, Portugal or Greece you might have seen the locals munching on a bowl of lupini beans along with olives. As my husband is Portuguese, we always have these in the house and when I started on Keto I was pleasantly surprised to find out how Keto-friendly they were. Different brands claim different carb counts, anywhere between 0-3 net carbs per ¼ cup. (Hint: when eating, make sure you bite off the outer shell and only eat the bean on the inside)

    Celery + Lupini Hummus

    Lupini Hummus

Hummus is typically made from chickpeas, which have a decent amount of carbs. But you can find hummus made of other veggies as well. My favorite low-carb option is made from lupini beans. I order my lupini hummus on Amazon, but you could make your own homemade hummus from lupini beans, edamame, cauliflower, or any other low-carb veggie(s).

    Ham and Cheese Wrap

Low carb wrap with ham and cheese and a side of pecans and tomatoes

Technically, this could be a meal. But making a Ham and Cheese Wrap is so quick and easy that it deserves a spot on this list. I get low-carb wraps (3 net carbs per tortilla) at the grocery store and add some ham, cheese and mayo. If I'm really feelin' fancy, I might add some spinach. A handful of nuts and cherry tomatoes completes the meal.

    Cheese Stick

    Cheese stick

This is an easy one. A zero-effort, but totally keto-friendly, snack. I always keep a couple different kinds of cheese sticks in my fridge. Depending on the cheese, each stick will typically have 0-1g net carbs. This particular stick of colby jack has 1g net carb and 7g fat.

    Keto Crunchy Granola

Whenever I get a hankering for a bowl of cereal, I head for the pantry and snack on some Keto Crunchy Granola. Yes, you have to make it ahead of time, but I promise it's worth the effort. I usually make a big batch over the weekend, and it lasts a couple weeks. You can eat it as-is, but I especially like it when sprinkled over yogurt and berries.

This one is both filling and oh-so-delicious! Ready in just 5 minutes, my Easy Keto Hot Chocolate is both quick and super yummy. All you need is milk and chocolate chips, plus a few optional extras.

    Roasted Edamame

    Roasted Edamame

Crunchy, salty, and keto-friendly... what's not to like? Although I try not to consume too much soy, the occasional edamame snack fits right in with my keto-snacking rotation. You could also get steamed edamame as well.
