There's something special about sweet breads and muffins in the oven that fills the whole house with the warm aromas of the holidays. This Hearty Keto Pumpkin Bread will do exactly that. Although this bread is hearty, with pecan flour, flax meal, almond flour and eggs, it's still plenty sweet and radiates with the warmth of fall baking. 🥧🍁
Get ready to grab a hot cup of tea (or cocoa, or cappuccino, or ya know... whatever keeps you cozy), snuggle up by the fireplace and bite into a slice of delicious fall flavors. Let's get baking!
Ingredients
Pecan Flour
I used pecan flour because of the flavor and the warm brown color. It makes the bread look extra "hearty" due to the brown flecks, which matches the flax seeds. However, if you do not have pecan flour at home you could substitute for almond flour.
Flax Seeds
You could use brown or golden, either way.
Make sure you use ground flax seeds, or flax seed meal. If you only have whole flax seeds at home then make sure you grind them up first (using a food processor).
Erythritol
I used Swerve brown erythritol as my sugar substitute. If you don't have that available where you live, you could use regular erythritol instead.
What is Pumpkin Pie Spice?
"Pumpkin Pie Spice" or "Pumpkin Spice" is a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice and ginger. If you live in the U.S., most grocery stores carry this mix in the spices section. If you live outside of the U.S. and cannot find this in your store, simply make your own by mixing the following:
- 2.5 teaspoons of cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon of nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon of ginger
- ¼ teaspoon of cloves
- ¼ teaspoon of allspice
If you don't have all five of these ingredients, don't worry. Just do what you can with what you have. Cinnamon and nutmeg are the most important, in my opinion.

📖 Recipe
Hearty Keto Pumpkin Bread with Pecan & Flax
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoon butter
- ½ cup erythritol brown sugar (swerve brand, regular erythritol will also work)
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 cup pecan flour (you could swap for more almond flour if you don't have pecan flour)
- 2 tablespoon ground flax seed meal
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Grease an 8x4 loaf pan and turn on the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, melt the butter in the microwave. You want it melted but not too hot. Add the brown "sugar" and use a fork to squish out all the clumps. Add the rest of the wet ingredients: eggs, pumpkin and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, add all dry ingredients (almond flour, pecan flour, flax meal, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice and salt) and use a fork to mix them together. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir to combine.
- Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 50 minutes. If you use a muffin pan instead of a loaf pan, you will need less time, approximately 25 minutes.
Notes
- 2.5 teaspoons of cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon of nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon of ginger
- ¼ teaspoon of cloves
- ¼ teaspoon of allspice
